Annual General Meeting and Conference Cancelled Due to Coronavirus

Regrettably, we have had to cancel the upcoming AGM as a result of the outbreak of the Coronavirus.  Here is a copy of the letter sent out to members earlier today:

BFMS 26th Annual General Meeting and Conference

Thank you for your recent booking for the BFMS AGM and Conference. We have been looking forward to and planning this year for quite a high-profile event with our keynote speaker, Harvey Proctor.

As everyone is aware, we are facing a dilemma as to whether we go ahead with the event on 28th March. We have been keeping a watching brief as events unfold in the UK and regrettably, today, we have reached the conclusion that , based on the predictions of the Chief Medical Officer it would be ill-advised to proceed with the event which is calculated, at this time, to be at the height of the COVID-19 epidemic in this country.

We are personally very disappointed to have to draw this conclusion and appreciate the fallout for our participants also, who are likely to have made their arrangements by now for travel and accommodation. Furthermore, the conference venue will demand full payment from us for the hire of the rooms and catering throughout the day. As a consequence, we find that we are unable to offer refunds for your ticket but please do let us know if this will cause hardship and we will do our best to help.

Our aim is to reconvene later in the year and we will keep you informed of our plans.

With sadness and apologies for this inconvenience.
